There is something about Alexandria. It is not like the rest of Egypt. Well, to be honest, each of the country’s areas and towns has its own specific energy, which makes it hard to speak of Egypt in general terms.
Even with that in mind, Alexandria, located on the north coast, is different. Everyone in Eskandria, as it is locally called, will endorse it, and they will be happy to tell you, in case you do not sense it yourself.
I felt it, before I had set foot in Alexandria. Something deep within my being was, and is, resonating with the town’s energies. So, when time had come to leave Luxor, late August, I knew where to go. It would be my first visit to Alexandria, but not the last.
“Wait, what’s your name?”, I ask him.
“Ahmed”, he answers.
“Shukran, Ahmed, words are lacking me”, I tell him.
“Welcome to Alexandria”, he says with a smile, turning around and leaving the building.
It is well past 01:30am when we enter our accommodation. We are exhausted and delighted to be in Alexandria. Welcome we feel.
