Over the rainbow:
An amazing soul has travelled on, beyond the horizon.
Leaving behind a trail of inspiration, love and wisdom.
Out of sight, in my heart forever.
Thank you, Barbara!
— Monique Teggelove

My thoughts turn back to the welcome dinner in Bluff, when an elderly lady, accompanied by her son, had walked into the room and sat down next to me. She had introduced herself as Barbara. Her slender physical body of only forty-six kilos was quite a contrast to the power of her soul. We soon found ourselves chatting and laughing about our travels and lives. What an amazing lady.

Despite being from different backgrounds and ages I felt a strong connection to her and on several occasions we had chosen to sit at the same table for breakfast, lunch or dinner. At times I had tried to imagine how her travels had been. She must have had quite a rebellious spirit, walking a path that was not immediately in line with what women were supposed to do years ago. That her father had been part of a pole expedition in the early 1900s probably says a lot about her genes.
